Therapy That Meets
You Where You Are
Hi, I’m Iulian Ungureanu, LCSW—and I believe that with the right support, people can change their lives in powerful ways.
I’ve been in the field of mental health since 2005, licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2017, helping individuals, couples, and parents navigate some of life’s hardest questions. What I’ve learned is this: lasting change starts when we shift our perspective.
That’s what I help my clients do—see their situations, their patterns, and even themselves differently—so they can finally move forward.
My Approach
I take therapy personally. Not in a clinical, distant way—but in a human way. I’ve been married since 2009. I’m a parent to both a special needs and a gifted child. I understand the stress, uncertainty, and complexity life brings—because I live it, too.
As a social worker, I’ve worked in city hospitals, inpatient psych units, and community mental health. I’ve seen what happens when people are overlooked, misdiagnosed, or treated like a number.
So I created New Perspectives as a place where therapy feels different—more relational, more grounded, and more effective. I'm trained in:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Mindfulness and guided reflection

I found Iulian while I was in the throes of a life crisis. I was going through several difficult life changes, most recently a failed relationship. For many years, I had struggled with failed relationships. I understood I was doing something wrong but couldn’t quite figure out what it was. I’m so happy that I found Iulian when I did. I’ve struggled with depression for most of my adult life. Within a couple sessions with him he’s helped me unpack a lot of the things that were holding me down. He’s very flexible and always willing to make it work when it worked best for me! I was one of the biggest disbelievers in therapy before I met Iulian. Now I’m telling all of my friends and family that vent to me to invest in therapy. It’s been a real life changer for me! I’m super appreciative of him!

We have nothing but the highest praise for Iulian Ungureanu. He is a perceptive, caring, intelligent therapist. He's warm and accessible, not cool and distant like some therapists. We particularly like that he is willing to suggest helpful techniques to actually deal with problems instead of just discussing the source of the problems. If five stars is the highest rating possible, we give him 10.
